Notes on a draft

Leave notes for yourself or your team while writing

While writing a post, you can leave a note on a passage to come back to it later. It's also a very good way to work on the same article with other writers.

Careful, these are not reader comments, which are public and appear under your published posts. The two never mix.

Leaving a note

Select some text in your post. The formatting bar appears above your selection, with a speech bubble at the end. Click it, or press Ctrl+Alt+M, and write your note in the panel that opens on the right.

The passage stays highlighted while the note is open. Click a note in the panel to jump to its passage, or click a highlighted passage to bring up its note.

To comment on the article as a whole rather than on one passage, use the field at the bottom of the panel.

Replying and resolving

Anyone with access to the post can reply to a note.

Once the note has been dealt with, hit Resolve. The thread moves to the Resolved tab and stops counting. You can reopen it later if the conversation is not over after all.

You can delete your own notes. Blog admins can delete any of them.

Notifications

Everyone taking part in a note gets an email notification. You never get one for your own notes, of course.

Writing with other people

Notes work the same whether you are alone or a team of eight. Alone, they are your own reminders. Together, they are your review pass: your reviewer questions a paragraph, you fix it, you resolve the thread.

Everyone who can open a post can read and write its notes. See Teams to invite people to your blog.
