Recommendations

A reader who just subscribed to a blog is in the best mood to discover something else to read. Recommendations are a great way to find new readers who will discover you through your network

Choosing who you recommend

Go to Settings → Newsletter → Recommendations. Search for a blog by name or address and add it.

Before you search, you'll see suggestions: blogs that already recommend you, then blogs you're subscribed to. Both are good starting points, since they're already connected to you.

You can recommend up to 10 blogs.

Recommending a blog while you read it

You don't have to go through Settings. While reading a blog, open the reader menu (your avatar at the top of the page) and click Recommend this blog. The same button, labeled Recommend, sits on that blog's page at writizzy.com/b/<subdomain>.

If you run more than one blog, you'll be asked which of them should recommend it.

When someone recommends you

You'll get an email telling you which blog recommended you, with a Recommend back button. It drops you straight into your Recommendations settings, so returning the favor takes one click.

What your readers see

Right after someone subscribes to your newsletter, a small window offers up to 3 of your recommendations, with a Subscribe button.

If you don't have any recommendations to show yet, your readers may instead see a short list of blogs whose writing resembles yours.

Turn off Suggest blogs to subscribe, in the same settings tab, if you'd rather skip this.

Your public recommendations page

As soon as you have at least one recommendation showing, your blog gets a public page at /recommendations, listing each one with its name, author, tagline, and a Subscribe button. It's linked from your footer automatically, on every theme, and you can also add it to your navigation menu.
