Behind Writizzy are two people:
We're building Writizzy because we are the first users of the product and we felt there was something to create that would be a bit different from what already exists.
The blog remains the ultimate space for personal expression on the internet. In the era of exploding AI slop, we wanted to create a place for people who actually write. A place where your blog belongs to you, where your readers find you because they're looking for you, and where what you publish stays under your control.
We also want to build a European alternative to the US platforms that dominate this space. Not out of nationalism, but because we believe it's healthy to have alternatives when you entrust your content to a platform, especially in the current climate.
And yes, there's almost always a blog post associated with the points above. That's also what transparency means. And that's what makes this list not "just" a nice facade.
Writizzy will not be an AI content factory. We will not build features like "write me an article."
Because content you didn't take the time to write doesn't deserve our time to read.
Writizzy will not pursue growth at all costs or the multiplication of features that eventually make products too complex. And that makes a perfect transition to the next chapter.
Writizzy is a bootstrapped product, with no external funding, in order to guarantee its independence on one hand, and to avoid any growth pressure on the other — which tends to degrade products over the long term.
We're betting we can build a viable platform with just the two of us, taking the time to do things right. Hugo experienced fundraising with Malt — it can work, but it imposes a pace and compromises.
We want to try differently. We think we can do things differently today.
In short, Writizzy will be entirely funded by users who decide to subscribe to the platform.
If enough people find the product useful and decide to pay, we continue. If not, we'll have tried.
We don't need to become huge. But we need to be profitable.
At the end of the day, we just want a simple place to write and be read. If you're looking for the same thing, welcome. We're building this for people like us — and maybe like you.
